What is the best time of year to fish for redfish in Venice Louisiana?
Venice Louisiana has world class redfishing year-round, in 2022 the whole year was great. Redfish thrive in the vast Mississippi Delta giving Venice a unique redfishing habitat. During the fall the giant schools of bull reds school up along the coastal waters which always makes for a great day. Having a bull red scream drag off of your reel always gets the blood pumping. The fall also offers anglers with the chance to fish the inner waterways in Venice as the Mississippi River is low and the saltwater pushes inward. Then in winter we continue to have epic redfish trips along the outer coastal waters as we fish the roseau canes. Spring and Summer are always fan favorites as we fish the outer bays and beaches giving anglers nonstop shallow water redfishing. Bull reds are often caught in less than 2ft of water while inshore fishing using live bait or artificial lures. The offshore waters are also home to redfish in the redfish capital of the world. As we venture off the coast to the famed oil rigs where we can target redfish giving you a totally unique experience. The fact is that inshore fishing in Venice Louisiana is great year round making the best time of the year whichever day you book your inshore fishing charter. The vast Mississippi Delta enables us to target redfish year round no matter what the conditions. Catching redfish is our specialty so give us a call to get your trip booked to experience the Redfish capital of the world with the premier fishing charter service.
What is the best bait for redfish in Louisiana?
Live shrimp is king when it comes to catching redfish in Venice Louisiana. My personal favorite set up is a two foot 40 pound Berkley trilene leader, attached to a 3/8 oz jig head which is then tied to a four horsemen popping cork. Another live bait redfish can't resist are small mullet under a four horsemen cork. The noise of the cork draws the redfish to your bait which is very important in the brackish waters we fish. For artificial lures we throw 1/2 ounce weedless gold spoons, spinner baits, H&H cocahoe minnows, matrix shad lures and Bill Lewis crank baits and rattle traps. When the big schools of redfish are preparing to spawn along the coast they become super aggressive and often strike artificial lures like a freight train. Blue Line guides use nothing but the best quality tackle, fishing poles and reels giving our clients the fishing charter they deserve. Just show up with your food and drinks for the boat and we will have everything else you will need on the boat ready to go. Morning fishing trips are the most common however we also offer afternoon redfish trips that are just as successful.
Redfish daily bag limit.
The daily bag limit of redfish in Louisiana currently is 5 redfish per person that measure between 16 and 27 inches. With each person allowed to keep one redfish per day over 27 inches(this is one of your 5 fish for your daily bag limit). Once we hit our daily bag limit we are not a fishing charter company that's going to make you go back to the marina. We can play catch and release catching redfish or try and target other species until the end of the fishing trip. We guarantee our clients more than just a fishing trip. Blue Line Captains will make sure our clients get the full fishing charter experience during their fishing charter. Once back at the marina your captain will handle cleaning your catch. Your catch will be cleaned and bagged.
